The
Siren Sisters String Band |
![]() |
Formed in 1990, The Siren Sisters were a noteworthy Albany, NY-based
alt. country band fronted by vocalists Caroline Johnston (now our Motherjudge), and Kathy “K.K” Bush. I played with them for about two years, performing old-time string band songs, golden-era country hits by artists like Hank Williams Sr. and Roy Acuff, and the Sirens' way cool originals. Left to right- Pat Mullaly, Lew Benko, Kathy Bush, Caroline Johnston- an early lineup. Photo: Dave Saurez |

When I joined them in 1990 as a
multi-instrumentalist on guitar, banjo, mandolin and harmonica, the lineup
consisted of Caroline and Kathy backed by Pat Mullaly on acoustic guitar
and dobro, Brian Wellbrock on electric guitar, Joe Pasco on electric bass
and Dave Owens on drums. We mostly played local bars like Bogie’s and QE2,
and had a sizeable following. |
